Retail trade is one of the key segments of the economy of Uzbekistan, providing the population with essential goods and creating significant jobs. The trade sector is regulated by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan dated February 13, 2003 No.75, which approved the Rules of Retail Trade. This document is aimed at protecting consumer rights, ensuring the quality and safety of goods, and creating a civilized trading environment.
The rules define retail trade as the activity of selling goods to the population for personal, family and household use without the right to their commercial use.
The right to conduct retail trade is granted to: legal entities and individual entrepreneurs without forming a legal entity.
Retail facilities include: hypermarkets, supermarkets, department stores, minimarkets, specialized stores, pavilions, kiosks, stalls, tents, mobile shops, and vending machines. They are divided into stationary and mobile facilities.
